Hot Wells

Click here to view video. Or just click the image.

Above the banks of the San Antonio River, not far from the intersection of S. Presa and Southcross, you'll find the remains of the once famous Hot Wells Hotel, originally built in 1886. The buildings, which throughout their history have been plagued by periodic fires, have been used for different purpose over the decades. Hotel, bathhouse, movie studio, school, trailer park, restaurant, etc. The one constant is the hot sulphur springs that, to this day, still bubble up and run into the river.

Music by Calexico.

That was interesting. I didn't know that place was there. I'll have to go check it out sometime. I love old abandoned places.
